Here is a quick Biography of our most popular DJ “DJ.S”

DJ.S has returned to DJ’ing after a 10 year hiatus because of modern advances in Dj’ing which enables him to do things he could only dream of years ago.

Combining his old school turntabilism skills (scratching etc) with today’s modern live remixing abilities, utilising various effects and up to four decks, DJ.S definately has the skills to wow. For examples of the ability of DJ.S check out his mixes posted throughout this site. These mixes can be downloaded to an ipod or cd so you can sample his work whenever you want… They have been featured on Mixcrate.com, official.fm and Numark’s official Facebook page and currently have download numbers in the thousands.

He has also been asked to produce mixes for various radio stations across the globe including iDanceRadio.fm and Club 80 fm in Paris.

All this achieved in the last 6 months of DJ.S being back behind the decks….

“RISE OF THE MACHINE” Mixtape by DJS… Free Download

74 minutes of absolute down and out funk!!! If you aint bopping your head or moving some part of your body throughout the entire mix then I have failed!!!

This mixtape starts of with a flash back to the 80′s with some timeless tracks by the likes of Guns n Roses, Michael Jackson and the 2 Live Crew.

It then slows down into a blend of the best songs from the 70′s, 80′s, 90′s, 00′s and today. Spanning all genres this mix has a little something for everyone. From reggae to house, hip hop to rock, this mix has it all. The mix has been performed megamix style i.e quick transitions between tracks therefore features over 100 tracks, mashed up and blended to perfection in just over 74 minutes (designed to fit onto a cd).

Been testing out my new Vestax VCI-400 controller lately and here is the 1st Mix recorded with it last night. Mix was recorded in one take and no post editing has been performed to enhance the mix. This is raw and uncut!!!

To be honest most of these tracks I thrash at my gigs so for me they are a little bit played out. However, they truly represent everything the 80′s stood for musically. Your Wedding DJ… Party Rocker or Party Ruiner!!!

Over the past few years of attending the fabulous weddings of friends and family there would always be a familar blight on the event.. the DJ was rubbish!!!

Too often I have witnessed a really nice vibrant wedding turn into a sombre funeral once the DJ comes on.  Sure they may have all the fancy lights and smoke machines but too often their skill in DJ’ing is poor. Now to be fair most of the time this has happened the “Professional DJ” has merely been a part of a package deal booked with the wedding reception venue, which no doubt is just one of the regular casual waiting staff dressed up. There is alot of DJ’s I have witnessed who just dont know how to rock a wedding. There are numerous skills that a DJ must possess that I will touch on in this blog, but most importantly a DJ should above all be able to pick the right music for the audience.

Too often I have seen some quite highly skilled DJ’s feel it is all about them and for example, completely disregard that the dance floor is packed with 50 year olds and keep mixing up dubstep. Knowing what to play and when to play is definately the most important skill of a DJ.

Another skill I will quickly touch on is beatmatching or mixing of the songs during a wedding set.

Notice the smooth transitions and blends of all the songs into one continous mix. These smooth transitions known as “beatmatching” or “blending” were developed to keep people from leaving the dancefloor at the end of the song. These days it is considered basic among DJs especially when mixing electronic dance music. This is because the tempo in EDM is constant and once the two mixing songs tempo’s are synced, the transition from one to the other is relatively simple. However as most popular songs played at weddings come from genres such as 60′s soft rock where the tempo shifts frequently, it is alot harder for a DJ to perfectly beatmatch these songs in unison. This is an area where one can seperate the truly exceptional DJ’s from the also rans.
